Since 1993
The Next Edison is a private non-profit organization dedicated to fostering good ideas and the people who have them.
A college education provides the spark for many good ideas, and a college degree may be essential to transforming those ideas into reality. But college costs are high and trending higher. Those costs can be a barrier to attainment of a degree, and the debt repayment obligations of graduates can limit career choices post-graduation.
The Next Edison does not want the world to miss out on the benefit of good ideas just because college is expensive. To assist in bringing good ideas to light, The Next Edison will provide scholarship funds to selected students who satisfy its grant criteria.
To be clear, “good ideas” are not limited to inventions (see Grant Criteria). Any new plan, product, service or policy proposal is eligible if it is likely to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
Per Thomas Edison, “If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.” The Next Edison is ready to be astonished by your ideas and to support your desire to make them a reality.
